The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a centralized entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate (LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) law programs offered by participating National Law Universities (NLUs) and other institutions in India.
CLAT exam typically consists of the following sections: > English Language > Current Affairs including General Knowledge > Legal Reasoning > Logical Reasoning > Quantitative Techniques CLAT is a computer-based test (CBT) typically consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) across various sections Each correct answer in CLAT carries one mark. There is usually a penalty for incorrect answers, commonly known as negative marking. For every wrong answer, a fraction of a mark (usually 0.25) is deducted as a penalty.
CLAT Exam Eligibility: For Undergraduate (UG) Programs (LLB): Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed or appeared for the 10+2 examination or its equivalent from a recognised board.
Minimum Percentage: Candidates belonging to the General/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST categories, the minimum percentage required is 40%. Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT for undergraduate programs.
For Postgraduate (PG) Programs (LLM): Educational Qualification: Candidates must have completed or appeared for the final year examination of their LLB degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institution.
Minimum Percentage: Candidates belonging to the General/OBC/SAP and other categories must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST categories, the minimum percentage required is 45%. Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT for postgraduate programs.

For SC/ST/BPL category candidates: The application fee is usually between Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 4,000.
